Head of Office of the European Union to Hong Kong and Macao

It gives me great pleasure to learn that the exhibition series "Peace and Harmony" will be presented again under the title "The Divine Spectra of China's Fragrant Harbour, with 108 Aloes of Sacred Scripture and Related Artifacts", following its previous success in 2007 and 2009.

With the theme of "peace and harmony", the event provides an opportunity for city-dwellers to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong and step into the enchanting world of natural splendours and calm that scents and spices offer us.

Since ancient times, scents and spices, including aloe, have contributed to increasing links between Asian and European cultures. They are still important elements of our daily lives, bringing us peace and harmony, as highlighted by this exhibition. They are part of the world's natural habitat that we all need to cherish and protect. Let these ancient artifacts and scripture bring Asia closer to Europe.

I wish every success to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government, the Chinese World Cultural Heritage Foundation and Dr Paul Kan, Chairman of Champion Technology and Honorary Consul of Hungary, for bringing this wonderful exhibition to us all.
