All Kinds of Incense and Spices (with illustration)

There is a huge variety of incense and spices, which can be categorized into natural aromatics and artificial aromatics in general. Natural aromatics are mainly extracted from plants and animals. Sources of botanical aromatics include agarwood, frankincense and myrrh, while animal aromatics are either collected from nature or by artificial means. For example, pieces of ambergris can be found drifting in the sea and musk can be obtained from the body of a male musk deer. As the amount of incense collected from the natural environment is limited, it is more valuable, with some being rarity. Artificial aromatics refer to artificially made or synthetic fragrances produced by chemical extraction.1 Natural aromatics obtained from both animals and plants can be extracted to produce essential oils, balms and perfumes using different methods.
