Ms Adele Bryant
Consul-General of New Zealand

Enlightened wisdom, as personified by Manjusri in the Mahayana and Vajrayana traditions of Buddhism, is important to all of us in the world who value light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. As the world faces environmental and economic challenges we must draw on our collective wisdom to find answers. As explained in the Foreword we may find some of these answers as we contemplate this diverse range of beautifully executed works of art. They are testimony to the depth of artistic skill that has been present in Chinese civilization since ancient times. I congratulate Paul Kan for bringing together a second public exhibition in the “Peace and Harmony” series, reminding us of the power of human creativity and the importance of wisdom in promoting global peace and harmony.
