Mr. Arnaud Barthélémy
Consul General of France

I have the great pleasure to congratulate Dr. Paul Kan for presenting the exhibition “Peace and Harmony – The Divine Spectra of China's Fragrant Harbour, with 108 Aloes of Sacred Scripture and Related Artifacts”.

This exhibition is part of the “Peace and Harmony” series that Dr. Kan started in 2007. A passionate lover of the arts and an avid collector of religious scriptures, maps, vintage books as well as world-renowned paintings, Dr. Kan relentlessly promotes arts and culture in Hong Kong. He successfully creates exhibitions that relate Hong Kong to the rest of the world. This exhibition is obviously of a particular significance in the “ Fragrant Harbour”.

I am also particularly delighted that the exhibition includes a French element since perfumes and bottles from France will be showcased, such as those from Guerlain, Hermès, Lalique and Baccarat, to name a few.

France is the place of origin of modern perfumery and, at the same time, the guardian of its traditions and know-how. Dr. Kan's exhibition echoes the exhibition “Perfumes Tales & Legends” that was presented during Le French May 2011.

I wish the exhibition and its promoters the great success they deserve.
