“Thousand-armed, Thousand-eyed Avalokitesvara” is one of the incarnations of the bodhisattva. Her thousand arms symbolize her protection of all mankind, with each one featuring an eye, suggesting that the light of wisdom is shining all around. The forty-two hands of her forearms are holding ritual implements such as a willow branch, lotuses, vajra, an arrow and a noose, demonstrating her omnipotence, while the rest of her arms form a light wheel at her back, enlightening all mankind with compassion.
